Communal living / Co-housing opportunity
‘An opportunity to be part of housing with a difference’
‘A new way to live & own your home’
‘A home, a community and a piece of nature, in the middle of the city'

OVERVIEW
This project concept provided a unique opportunity to co-own part of a quality development with a small community. Located in a precious slice of nature, the site is located right in the middle of the city.
Tucked between a private lane and a forested valley with mature Totara, Kahikatea and Kohekohe trees, the development sought to reduce the environmental impact of housing density while offering opportunities for neighbours to connect, if desired, with homes clustered along the lane. Shared ownership of the land also supported the stewardship of this stunning native forest.
These homes would be comfortable, sustainable and efficient. Quality living would be taken to a new level with high performance building technology and prefabrication.
This would be an environmentally and socially conscious project.
The concept development offered enjoyment of birdsong and the stunning views to the north and west, from the beautiful trees and bush.
With its natural elements, the selected site was also well-situated in the city, in close proximity to all that Birkenhead has to offer: a short walk to local parks and less than 5 minutes drive to the local shopping centre; 35 minute bus trip to the City Centre or a 12 minute cycle to the Birkenhead Ferry and services into the city centre.
